Private Lessons

Private Lessons are customized to meet your needs and scheduled at your convenience! Learn on your own machine or use a shop machine. When you are ready, pick a project based on your interest, and we'll work on it with you!

If you are interested in signing up for a private lesson, please fill out our very brief questionnaire! Return it with your deposit to: Sew and Show, 401 North Avenue, Garwood, NJ 07027. Stop by during our hours of operation to deliver your completed questionnaire, mail it in, or just put it in our mail slot during our off hours. You can download it here: Word Doc / PDF File.

Basic Hand Sewing Techniques

You can learn the basic hand stitches every seamstress or tailor knows! Your lesson will include demonstrations and hands-on learning. Your Basic Hand Sewing Lesson will include the slipstitch, the overcast stitch, the backstitch, and the running/basting stitch. Learn to blind stitch and the correct way to sew on a button.

Private Lesson: $55.00

Beginner Sewing Machine Lesson

This class will teach you the basic operation of a sewing machine! You will learn basic sewing machine techniques and how to thread a machine, wind bobbins, and load bobbins. Your Beginner Sewing Machine Lesson will include hands-on practice exercises and training. Training is available on machines in the shop, or you can bring your own machine and we'll teach you how to operate it!

Custom Private Lessons

Private Lessons will be customized based on your needs. We can offer combination instruction of hand-sewing and sewing machine training. All you need to do is tell us your needs! Would you like to improve your existing sewing skills, or do you need help completing a project? Our staff is happy to help you!

Registration

All registrations are processed in the order received and must be accompanied by full payment.

You may register for classes in person, by mail, or by phone. If you register by phone, you must send or hand-deliver payment. The payment must be received in three business days to continue reserving your place.

To register by mail, please send your name, contact information, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice of scheduling with your payment to:

Cancellation Policy

You may withdraw from a class by phone, email, or regular mail. You will receive a refund less a $15 processing fee if Sew & Show receives notice at least one week before the class or lesson is scheduled to begin.

If you give notice less than one week before the class or lesson begins, your charge will be refunded only if the class is full and someone on the waiting list can take your place. The $15 processing fee is still applicable.

Sew & Show reserves the right to cancel any class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, you will be notified, given the option to reschedule, or receive a full refund.
